It has been a while since we posted an update, so here is a short
summary of our latest projects that have been occupying much of our
time.
The bathroom, or CR, as it is called here, is well on its way to be fully functional. It is sectioned off, one toilet room, a second toilet room, a shower room, and an outdoor sink. We have tiled and grouted the two toilet rooms, and John installed a working, flushable toilet in the first one. Our new shower room is in the process of being tiled, and it is looking mighty fine.
John and John have been hard at work rebuilding Joks the tricee drivers bike, putting it back in top shape. It was a rough piece of work… They found that he had bad brakes, a broken tail-light, a starter that was in a sorry state, and pieced together wiring. On top of that, it was tricky to start, and had loose piece of metal that jerked around and hurt their leg every time it was kick started. It is a fairly big project, but Joks is excited to regain the use of his family vehicle. He is Mercy In Action’s tricee driver and transports the midwives to their pre-natal and post-pardum visits.
John is also doing some maintenance work on the MIA ambulance. This includes adding a dome light to the interior, adjusting the strap on the rear door so that it will close better, and a plethora of other little improvements to get it functioning optimally. Our two mechanics, John and John, will also be working on the Eheler’s Pajero to try and fix a steering issue. That vehicle has a terrible turning radius.
And there are still Cubos that need to be constructed. We are awaiting a break in the rain before beginning this next project. Lately, it seems as though we have been hit with every typhoon from A-Z. I have lost count and cannot even remember the name of the current typhoon that we are experiencing at the moment, but we hear that there are several others lined up after this one. That being said, we are hoping for drier days ahead so we can start work on the huts, thanks to the generous grant of One Day’s Wages.
Now you are up to date with the progress report! Love and blessings to you all, Kels for both
