Jake has returned home, safely, though a couple months earlier
then he had initially planned. His beloved Grandpa has been battling
lung cancer for some time, and Jake’s family thought it would be best if
Jake could return to be with him during this time. We are sad to that
he is gone, but know that God sent him here for a purpose, and now he is
where the King wants him to be. Though we miss him, we thank God for
the time we had with him and the work he was able to accomplish during
his stay. We know his family is happy to have him back, and that this
time should be spent with his Grandpa, ‘Pappy.’ They are very close,
and we are glad that Jake could be there with him. That leaves our team
with three members: John, John, and me. And now we are three.
The rain is finally subsiding enough for us to continue our work outdoors, and we are ready to begin tiling and installing toilets on the new CR on the 2nd level. There are concrete and rock stairs leading up from the CR all the way to the Eheler’s house, and stairs are in progress to our hut up at the top – I am very excited about these stairs.
The permits have not yet been approved. We are coming into our fourth month here in the Philippines, and have yet to begin on the actual groundwork of the clinic. We greatly appreciate all of the prayers, and there is progress being made and several people advocating for the approval of the permits, and it now seems as though the mayor of Olongapo is going to help get them approved. Things are advancing, but slowly. We are learning patience and also how to focus our attention on other projects in the meanwhile. Our team is smaller now than we had foreseen it to be at this point in time, but we are not discouraged. We have been praying for the Aeta people whom we are compelled to serve, and I know that the Spirit moves us to pray. There is awesome power in prayer. We know that the spiritual realm is very real, just as if not more so than our physical sphere in which we roam. And we know that we live and move and have our being in Him.
We have been called to serve Him. Jesus is revealing His heart to us. He paid such a high price, that we might have life, and have it to the full. Abundant life. We serve an awesome God.
